Geographically, enormous volcanic intrusions known as Inselbergs are prominent throughout the area and create a spectacular backdrop to the Reserve. The Dwarsberg Mountains lie to the south and the Marico River to the east.

The area is a transitional region between lowveld bushveld and the Kalahari thornveld. Consequently, these varying habitats from open plain grasslands, to woodlands, rocky outcrops and seasonal wetlands host an incredible diversity of fauna and flora including the Big 5 and numerous other wildlife and bird species that thrive and survive within the reserve.

Our early morning and evening game drives offer a unique and exclusive experience offering our guests the opportunity to traverse the full expanse and diversity of the reserves 80 000 hectares. Our safaris with a focus on game-viewing, birding, stargazing and scenic photography are accompanied by our expert local guides to help interpret your safari encounters and impart their intimate knowledge of area and its history.
